Green Foundation Golf Tournament Raises Close to $60,000
OWENSBORO, KY. (July 25) – A number of NASCAR celebrities descended on Owensboro, KY., on Wednesday, July 18, to take part in the Seventh Annual Green Foundation Celebrity Golf Tournament at Summit Country Club.
Co-founded by NASCAR drivers Jeff and Mark Green, the Green Foundation raised close to $60,000 through this year’s event, which was sponsored by Best Buy, the primary sponsor of Jeff Green’s No. 66 entry.
Funds raised will be distributed among a number of charities, including the Victory Junction Gang Camp, the Owensboro Area Museum of Science and History’s “SPEEDZEUM,” the Mitchell Memorial Cancer Center, as well as other Owensboro area charities.
The foundation also presented $5,000 to Fisher House Foundation, which establishes "comfort homes," facilities built on the grounds of major military and VA medical centers, to provide lodging for families of hospitalized military members. (complete release)

Green Foundation
Celebrity Golf
Tournament

in Owensboro, KY

Dear Friends of The Green Foundation,
In 2002, we created The Green Foundation, Inc, a not-for-profit,
501(c)3 charitable organization devoted primarily to providing
assistance to three groups – at-risk youth who benefit from
leadership and developmental programs, children who are
chronically ill or who have life-threatening diseases and
organizations that support motorsports participants and
their families.
To raise funds for the Foundation, each summer we host
a golf tournament in our hometown of Owensboro, Kentucky.
2004 will mark the Fifth Annual Green Brothers Celebrity
Golf Tournament. Many Winston Cup and Busch Series drivers
golf and participate in an autograph session and live auction.
The tournament is a sell-out every year!
For the first time in February 2003, we held a dance, dinner
and auction in Charlotte, North Carolina, “Rock into Racing-2003”.
2002 Winston Cup Champion Tony Stewart, Kyle Petty, Matt
Kenseth and many other drivers attended in support of the
foundation. A live auction was held during dinner. The grand
finale was a private concert by Neal McCoy. The Victory
Junction Gang Camp received the proceeds from the event.
In the coming year, The Foundation has implemented plans
to expand the fundraising events schedule. “Hilarity for
Charity”, a comedy act with dinner in the fall and a “Celebrity
Skeet Shoot” for the spring of 2005 have been tentatively
added. Information on our upcoming events will be updated
here in the very near future.
Proceeds from our past events have been distributed among
many worthy organizations. Of the over $400,000 raised thus
far, checks have been presented to Muscular Dystrophy Association,
the Down’s Syndrome Society, Children’s Miracle Network,
Motor Racing Outreach, Busch Series Ladies Association,
Victory Junction Gang Camp and local charities in Owensboro,
Kentucky, our hometown.
If you are interested in an upcoming event, whether to
attend or volunteer your time, please contact us at info@thegreenfoundation.org
or call 704-799-7053.
Thanks for your support!
Sincerely,
Jeff and Mark Green
